Oboe Teachers
The oboe is an instrument less commonly taught by music teachers so we have tried to compile a comprehensive list of oboe teachers up and down the country for those who are interested in learning how to play this instrument.
The oboe fills a gap in the woodwind family, it is double reeded which produces a very penetrating and easy to listen to tone that was described as "Majestical and Stately" in the 1695 book The Sprightly Companion. Teachers and other players of this instrument are known as oboists.
One of the wonderful things about the oboe is that by manipulating the air pressure as you blow into the instrument you can demonstrate a far wider range of aural dynamics than many other instruments are capable of. Teachers of this instrument will demonstrate how you can often hear it above other instruments in large ensembles.
Oboe teachers will also be able to teach you more about tuning the instrument and caring for it, it is usually tuned in concert C although can also be tuned to concert A when played with orchestras. Many oboe teachers will also demonstrate how to play a variety of different types of music with the instrument and help you hone your skills until you are capable of composing your own pieces for the enjoyment of all.
